Political satire set in the near future, in which Europe has become united in many areas. A group of Dutch people has been called upon to vote on a plan to depopulize the Netherlands under pressure from increased food scarcity.
Nine residents were chosen at random to take part in a popular assembly to vote on a proposal entitled ‘The Depopulization Dutch Territory Act’. The underlying idea is that there is a food shortage and that there will be too little food for the population in the future. At first, almost everyone is in favor of the plan, but on closer inspection more and more vote against. For example, the assigned chairman finds out that the law can have consequences for, for example, minority groups that can be declared undesirable elements and expelled from the country. The final vote: five in favour, four against.
