About the trial of the three brothers Hogerhuis in 1896. The three brothers were sentenced to high sentences for burglary and attempted manslaughter.
The case aroused much commotion and grew into a nationwide political affair. The harsh punishment served as an example to intimidate the rebellious people and discredit the socialist movement.
