Crime film about a journalist who becomes involved in a drug smuggling operation on the hedonistic holiday island of Ibiza.
In the early 1960s, Ibiza was a popular haven for Dutch artists and writers. The sun-drenched Spanish island was far removed from the stuffy post-war Netherlands and proved to be an inspiring environment for Jan Cremer, Cees Nooteboom, Harry Mulisch and photographer Cas Oorthuys, among others.
Due to the growing prosperity, Ibiza also became a well-known holiday destination. In Ibiza, sun and sin, TV reporter Armand Laqueue (Aart Staartjes) makes an item about the island. Through his girlfriend, he becomes embroiled in a drug conspiracy and becomes acquainted with the dark sides of the hedonistic holiday resort.
Director Roeland Kerbosch – who previously shot the documentary Around the Oudekerksplein – made Ibiza, sun and sin. Journalist Ischa Meijer can be seen in a supporting role as a ‘Brabant tourist’. The film was shot almost entirely on location.
